No doubt many of you find that the work/life balance can sometimes be a bit difficult to manage. Especially when it comes to keeping one’s fitness level.
For me the plan is to always watch what I eat and drink as those variables are under my control. Getting in some quality exercise can be a challenge. Fortunately basic body weight exercises are easy to accomplish almost anywhere. And sometimes you’ll find me hidden away in a quiet airport gate area doing pushups and sit ups. Not to mention all the walking that comes with ripping through airports to get to your gate.
My go to is to book a hotel with a gym. Sadly, despite all the efforts the industry has made to properly showcase their fitness centers all too often when you arrive it is either nothing like the photos or some pieces of equipment are out of order.
Last night I had the displeasure of finding out that the peloton type stationary bike was replaced with a recumbent. Not a bike I like as the muscles used differ from an upright bike. Still, I persevered and managed to spin my legs long enough at an easy endurance heart rate level to meet my training goals.
Helps to have a Garmin Venue 3 sports watch to track my HR.
So no matter where your career may take you, there are options to maintain your health and fitness. You may need to get creative sometimes.
