Well it has been a rather frustrating and often painful three and a half months since my debilitating bout with my laterally herniated L3/L4 disc. As discussed in previous posts, I was rather annoyed to find that the physical stress the injury was placing on my body had forced my resting heart rate extremely high. At least for me. That of course induced more mental strain with the ensuing aggravation making me a rather grumpy person.
Well I am now entering day three post surgery. I am feeling great although a bit of discomfort at the two incision sites. Of course bored out of my mind with only being able to walk. However I will follow the doctor’s orders on recovery to a T as I never want a repeat of what I went through the past 3 months.
Perhaps my greatest surprise was how quickly my resting heart rate would begin to move back into my normal range once my body was not under stress. Two nights and basically in my 36 – 38 BPM range. Wow, that was fast.
Now if I can just keep my weight in check since I have no exercise in sight for six weeks. Then PT starts. Three months until I can ride again.
Marking the dates off on my calendar. 😃
