The Joys Of A Good Book

I don’t know about you but I truly enjoy reading a good book. My wife and family members have heard me many times talking about my latest page burner, thriller, can’t put it down read that is my current obsession. Well, obsession perhaps a bit strong. Let’s call it my go to when there is quiet block of time that could be spent idly watching TV, the clouds passing by, or perhaps deep in thought / planning my next adventure. Ok, I will still make some time for deep thoughts.

However a good page burner is always of interest to me. It can come from almost any book genre as I often find a good book by randomly walking the aisles of my public library (yes, they do still exist), skimming binding covers, reading the teaser and about the author, and once in a while I go so far as to random searches for lists / recommendations. I may go with classics, like this or sci-fi, thrillers, and even non-fiction where recently I had the great pleasure of randomly selecting and reading The Last Comanche Chief by Bill Neeley, a truly excellent read that blends history, research, the human experience into a story that reads much like a novel.

For me a good book is a much-welcomed accessory to any business trip. Nothing makes the time go by faster on a long cross-country flight than a good book. There have been times I was so deep into the book, character, storyline that I was startled by the landing. Now that is a good book!

As I prepare for next year’s RAAM2CC, now less than 12 months away, I am starting to make a short list of paperback books that may accompany me for the journey. Perhaps two as it will be 45-days and the return flight home. Not that I will have much time each evening as there will be daily blogging, video updates, a ton of eating, stretching, phone calls home, and prepping for the next day. But there is always some time for a good page burner before lights out. Maybe something from this list. https://www.boldtuesday.com/blogs/travel/50-best-books-to-read-while-travelling-chosen-by-travellers-themselves

Happy reading!

A little humor in your day. Thank you Joe H.
