RAAM2CC Basic Budget

What is this ride going to cost, at least in the way of financing. I will address Energy / Food and Sport Drinks in another post. Staggering number of calories. 

Tour: $18,000 = 20,000 with tip all paid by me. This is the ride I have wanted to do for years. I have selected the awesome people at Cycle of Life Adventures for this ride. Expert team, great logistical support, encouragement when needed, and proven track history of getting their clients over the finish line. 

Bike: $8,000 or less with a Sponsor / used bike donation. This is a one-way bike to be donated to charity once I get to the finish line. Possibly going to Kingsbay Naval Sub Base for their MWR (morale, welfare, recreation) services. Trek? Can you and/or my good friend at Pure Ride Cycles help find a suitable 56cm Red Rocket 2 at least equipped with Ultregra DI2, disc brakes, and for this epic ride probably compact crankset as most of the time I plan to cruise in Z2/Z3. 

Pedals $1100 (Garmin Dual Road power pedals for data collection and pacing my ride efforts) Garmin – I already use a ton of your gear – would make a great sponsor!

Bike Computer – Garmin 1050 $800 part of data collection, rider tracking, emergency beacon, and very important- the daily map! Sponsor?

Garmin rear camera/ light $300

Shoes/cleats $400 include a spare set of cleats. They can break. Bontrager / Shimano?

Gloves $200 will require at least four pairs, two short finger and two full finger for cold / wet weather

Cycling Kit $1,000 ideally custom with Logo and Sponsors. new for ride) Available for purchase to help support ride. Ideal kit sponsor – Pearl Izumi. Love their bib shorts with side pockets on the thighs. Great spot to carry extra gus / bars. 

Jacket $125 with removable sleeves. Cold / wet weather cycling 

Spares: $450 (tubes, patches, 2 tires, spokes, extra lights, etc.) things break at the wrong time and we will be in the middle of nowhere quite often.

Arm sleeves $300 five pair minimum 3 thin, 2 thick

Leg warmers $150 2 pair mid-calf length 

Shoe covers $50 one pair for wet weather

Water bottles (4) $100 (Sponsor?)

Gus and Bars: $400 see daily energy calculations 

Sports drink: $100 

Meals – $500 for Off Days (not covered by tour company) or any local sponsors / friends in the area?

Total approximately $36,000 or $16,000 over the core cost for the ride alone. I plan to setup a Go-Fund-Me page and will be recruiting sponsors. 

Sponsorship could include donations of gear, discounts, other equipment not included above (Viewsonic tablet for daily reporting)

End of ride bike and some of the gear to be donated to a non-profit in St Marys, GA or Kingsbay NSB / MWR

Video rights to Trek / other key sponsor? 

YouTube ads – can revenue go to City of Hope?
